Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are men and women who receive special permission to assist the priest and deacon (the Ordinary Ministers) in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, during the celebration of the Holy Mass. At St. Joseph Parish, the Extraordinary Ministers receive permission to serve from the Pastor.

In order to serve as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion, the individual must follow these requirements:
-Be 19 years of age or older
-Have received all three Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation).
-If married, it must be so by the Catholic Church.
-Must be a practicing Catholic who is also living a Christian moral life.


Extraordinary Ministers of Communion are also required to follow all schedules, dress codes, and additional guidelines indicated by the Pastor or coordinators, as well as attending all formation workshops given throughout the year.
